Excerpt Etudes for Common Orchestral Repertoire: A Collaborative Method For Two Bassoons
Daniel Nester, DMA
All music exists within a context. However, all too often audition preparation is done individually, with the excerpts divorced from their original setting. This collection of Excerpt Etudes restores the musical context to audition excerpts by providing supporting musical lines taken from the orchestral setting of the excerpts, thus allowing the aspiring players a better chance to learn how the piece is intended to be played. The pieces herein have been chosen after extensive research into the most commonly requested audition excerpts for bassoon in orchestras in the USA. The collection utilizes a unique concept of Pitfalls and Opportunities to help guide the aspiring players in their audition preparation. Check it out!
